Raymarine EV-100 Power vs Raymarine EV-150 Power

Raymarine EV-100 Power vs EV-150 Power: compare hydraulic package suitability, cylinder information, retained pumps and installation scope.

This is a hydraulic powerboat comparison. It does not compare the EV-100 sailing drives with an EV-150. The steering circuit and required pump determine which package deserves a quote; a boat being described as small or medium is not enough information to order either system.

Which should you choose?

Choose the package supported for the steering cylinder and circuit. EV-150 is not simply a better EV-100 for every small boat, and a cheaper EV-100 package is not a saving if its pump is unsuitable.

Choose if

Which autopilot configuration suits your boat?

Choose Raymarine EV-100 Power if…

  • The documented EV-100 Power pump and system suit the assessed steering circuit.

Choose Raymarine EV-150 Power if…

  • The EV-150 configuration is supported for the boat and the quote identifies its pump inclusion.

Find the cylinder identification before asking for a price

Record the cylinder make and model and ask the installer to resolve any missing capacity information. Include the number of engines and how their steering is connected. Photographs help organise a survey, but cannot establish every feature of a concealed hydraulic circuit. Give both suppliers the same brief.

Compare a new installation with pump reuse

A drive-excluded price is meaningful only when the existing pump is suitable and serviceable. Request a separate assessment of its condition and supported electrical combination. Compare plumbing, fittings, bleeding, power supply and commissioning in both quotes, then ask who takes responsibility for any retained components after installation.

Questions

Raymarine EV-100 Power vs Raymarine EV-150 Power: frequently asked questions

Can I choose from engine horsepower alone?

No. Provide the steering cylinder and circuit information required by the manufacturer and installer.

Does the EV-100 name mean a wheel pilot?

No. EV-100 includes distinct Tiller, Wheel and Power packages. This page covers Power only.

Is EV-150 supplied with a pump?

Variants exist. Identify the exact part number and included components on the quote.

Autopilot training after installation

The best pack badly understood is a worse autopilot than a modest one used well. A half-day handover covers modes, override, alarms and a failure drill.
